District-wide Content Area Benchmarks Scheduled for Fall  (Displays 1/4/2011)
To better evaluate and monitor student progress, many areas of our curriculum will undergo benchmark assessments during the fall months.

Students in grades 1-8 will once again complete Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) to determine instructional levels in mathematics, reading, and language arts.  Teachers will measure individual reading levels using Fountas & Pinnell leveled reading assessments in the elementary school.  Students in grades 3, 5, and 7 will take pretest benchmarks in the areas of visual arts, performing arts, technology and health.  Science and Social Studies fall benchmarks will be completed in grades 4, 6, and 8.  Through literacy classes, students in grades 3 through 8 will create fall writing samples to demonstrate proficiency measured against state benchmarks.
